Cool story! I remember him as a pitcher but I didn't know about any of that.

Good story.  His convictions are to be admired.  He made a very good point when he spoke about stealing signs using one's eyes rather than an outside influence, like technology.  He's absolutely right.  I don't imagine anyone would consider sign stealing cheating when it's done by the players and coaches on the field.  But a non-participant stationed off the field using telescopes, computers, algorithms, etc is definitely outside the rules.

Worthington led the AL in saves in 1968 at age 39. He had 18. It was a different world for relievers back then as 5 of his teammates combined for another 11 saves. Face led the Pirates that year with 13 saves before being sold to Detroit on 8/31. Up to that point, 5 other Pirates had combined for an additional 13 saves.
