Zack Godley of the DBacks was designated for assignment. He has not pitched well this season, but he won 15 games last season. He is not yet making a large salary, and I wonder if Pittsburgh should make a claim for him ? He might be an upgrade to some of the pitchers in the bullpen.

Can't hurt, that is the Pirates business model. Maybe one of NH reclamation signings actually work this time. He has been on quite the cold streak.

Just read that Godley is a free agent. I would sign him, and bring him into spring training in 2020 to see if you can get him back to last season when he win 15 games. The Pirates need pitching, so why not sign Goodley ?

Just read that Godley was released by the Tigers today. Is he worth signing to determine if he can fill a bullpen role, and possible starter. The Bucs have a couple spots open on their 60 man team roster.

any indication of why the Tigers released him? Its not like they have great pitching staff.

The Tigers site noted he was struggling throwing strikes with his fastball, and he had an opt out clause in his contract that he signed last offseason. They cut him loose so he could try to latch on with another team before the season begins next week.

That streak is frozen in time for eternity now...you do know that he no longer works for the Pirates?

Huntington? Cherington? Can't tell the difference. Neither does anything all off-season.

One had 12 seasons to disprove himself, the other has had less than one - I'll reserve judgment until he's on the job at least 3-4 years more.

With as bare as the previous group left the roster, it will take that long because you already know the owner won't allow him to spend freely.
