Geez, Louise.  Polanco in the lineup again?  Is there any way we can sign the Pirate Parrot and add him to the team to hit and play RF over Polanco?  I am pissed and plan to watch a movie and crochet with Mrs. Possum tonight.

It's inexcusable that Polanco plays. He gets his paycheck whether he's here or at home on the sofa. Just release him already so we never have to watch this nightmare again.

I see that some people haven't taken Pirates 101.

It's very basic.  I can't remember whether it was Surg....or, our friend from the now-defunct PMB, Cecil Espy, who deserves credit for the research.  It was one of them.

(In this, the most recent example for which this rationale holds true) "It's the Pirates-y thing to do."

Polanco is playing....because, he makes those other stiffs look good by comparison.

I wonder what Polanco will be worth at the trade deadline?

Nothing.

That means one of two choices:

A) Package him up with a couple other stiffs until somebody takes him off our hands.

B) BOB swallows hard and releases him.

B might sound good to some people, but the long term implications are- if you think that payroll's low NOW.......  There is no way on earth that BOB replaces Polanco's salary.  No way.

A is better, but we don't have anyone that any other teams wants, so that's out.  And, the Pirates would surely have to eat some of Polanco's bloated salary anyway.

All of this leads back to The Pirates Quagmire:

A) They don't spend money for talent.

B) The few times they do, they aren't every good at it.

$2.38. And that's only if his shoelaces are included in the deal.

You can have Polanco, Polanco's shoelaces, Gonzales, and Newman- as long as you pick up Polanco's salary.

Hell, BOB might even toss in HIS shoelaces if you say 'yes' by the end of the day.
