I heard the same thing today. Other than Reynolds and Newman, there are no other players who are good enough, but it's going to take at least three years, at the very least, for the team to be good again, and that's with three straight incredible drafts and international signings. It's possible. It's just not likely to happen here. But I appreciate his positivity, even if it's misguided.

Note to Ben. The team sucks, in part, because of the players who are on the team. Get rid of them, and you might have a good team someday.



And, you won't have that until your boss is willing to pay for better players.

We need to start with baby steps with Cherington.  Instead of expecting him to acquire better players, first we just need him to pick up the phone and talk to somebody instead of sitting there looking out his window.

In addition, the manager isn't better than Hurdle was, either.



The pitching coach isn't better than Searage was.



The "best" might be a toss-up. Bell is no better than Pedro Alvarez.



In some cases, it's not even close (Center Field, Catcher, Pitching)
