Today's game will be a real test for the resurgent bullpen.

The rusty Musgrove is scheduled to start against a team that ravaged Pirate pitching in Chicago. Doubt Musgrove can hang in for more than 4 innings.

If the pen can hold the Sox's bats down, perhaps they truly are starting to come around as both individual pitchers and as an overall unit.

Who would have predicted 2/3 into the season that Erik Gonzales would be our most productive player?

Or that half the starting line-up is regularly hitting near or below the Mendoza line?

All of us would have.

Or, ar least should have. We knew this team wasn't any good. What we didn't know is that Cheington wasn't going to get anyone better.

I didn't think that Reynolds or Newman would hit at the same clip as last year, but their decline has been unreal. Reynolds' BA is down 122 points from last year.

As for Polanco, at .150, he wishes he was at the Mendoza line.

Why would you put Neverouskas in a competitive game.  He is a disaster.
