The Marlins have hired the first Women GM in a major professional sport.

Kim Ng. How things have changed? I'm sure she didn't sign for the league minimum. Any thoughts?

Long overdue for her, she has been interviewed for GM jobs for almost 15 years. I do wonder if she is too old school to succeed, working for Ned Colletti and then Joe Torre. Of course she could also be very modern/progressive since she also worked for and was hired by Paul DePodesta.

I dont really think her sex matters, she is highly qualified for the job. Playing Pro baseball is not a qualifier to lead an organization or even coach the team.

She's smart enough to go nowhere near the Pirates/BOB.

How is she better or smarter than Cherington? She was interested in the Pirate job.

There is one way to find out. BC calls her and congratulates her. Offers her a trade - Polanco and six million retained for Sixto Sanchez. We will see. Remember, someone put it down, he will hit 20 dingers and .260. LOL

She works for maybe the second-worst owner in MLB.  That makes her smarter than someone who works for the worst owner.

So losing out on working for the worst owner in sports makes her better? The logic gymnastic i have encountered here is impressive.

I'm happy for Kim. She has a lot of experience in different phases of baseball management and a ton of respect for her education. A top college softball player for the University of Chicago Maroons. The U of C is a top-notch Ivy League quality school. Of course, my opinion of the U of C is a bit biased because both my daughter and son-in-law graduated from the U of C. I for one will be following Kim as she takes on this new job for which I think she is worthy.

She worked for the Yankees and Dodgers in high positions.

Do you think that she had SERIOUS interest in anything having to do with the Pirates?

She's in Miami. They don't have a team in Hawaii. Next best thing.
