Poor Wil Crowe, he hasn't a chance to be a winner today even if he pitches a good game. When will the Tom experiment end?

BUCS will win this game because 3 under .500 will be a ladder they can't climb.

BC cut ties with Alford and Fowler after just a few weeks. I don't think Tom will get that long. He has been a disaster and someone will have to go when Hayes returns. Hard to believe they see enough in Tom to keep him on the roster all season so that they can keep him in the organization. In this rebuilding phase they are obviously willing to take a flier on various players but as we saw with Alford and Fowler, BC isn't afraid to cut such players lose when they show they have nothing to offer.

Hard to believe that the Pirates are having such a difficult time finding capable outfielders. This year's crop, with the exception of Reynolds, is trending in the direction of being historically bad.

Fowler and Alford almost had more strike-outs than at-bats, Polanco has no arm (and why was he rushing to pick-up the ball in right center last night to make the throw when Reynolds had equal access to the ball), and Tom appears to be suffering from a disease that likely has plagued him for much of his life; almost but not good enough.

I am not going to wax poetic about Clemente, Stargell, Oliver, Parker, Bonds, Van Slyke, Giles, McCuctchen, et al, but at this point, even joggin' George Hendricks or Derek Bell could be considered upgrades.

Watching the last 3 games has been too reminiscent of the start of the season, and it doesn't look like Hayes is going to be a factor for at least another week if not longer. Jared Oliva couldn't have picked a worse time for him to be injured.

Stupid NL rules that still have the pitcher batting. Oh wait, Wil Crowe with a single.
