The Bucs lucked out that Tatis was on the injured list when the Padres were in Pittsburgh.



Well, it now appears that the Pirates may be facing some of the Padres B team starters (Diaz) or folks who are just coming off the injured list (Weathers or Lamet).



Pirates need to bring their hitting cleats to San Diego and tee off on one or two of their starters. No better way to try and shake off a series sweep to go on the road and start banging hits all around a park.



As always, hoping for the best, but fearing the worst.

Maybe that should be the Pirates new slogan. Beats "Come Hungry".

The Pirates have only 3 position players hitting over .250. But looking at the roster, that's understandable if not expected. Getting Hayes back will help, whenever that is. But other than him, A,. Frazier, Reynolds and Moran, there is no one on the roster who can be expected to hit as well as .250. Sadly, the guys who aren't hitting are not in slumps. They just don't have the ability.

Yep. It's hard to blame the players. They are what they are.

You're right, and it's reflected in the RS, which we're fourth worst in MLB.  The others?  The Tigers, whose fans I almost feel sorry for, but I'm too busy feeling sorry for us.  Then, the Nats, who are somehow able to overcome it with what little pitching they have. Mets, too.

Can't bame BOB. Low revenue. Can't blame Ben. He just got here. Can't blame Shelty. He got here even later than Ben. Can't blame the players.



That leaves me for about the 14th year in a row.

With the Tigers--like the Pirates--the lack of scoring may be a season long issue. The Nats and Mets have some guys who are grossly underperforming--especially Lindor for the Mets. Those 2 teams should start hitting but the Bucs and Tigers just don't have the talent.

Unless they start getting a couple of people who are routinely hitting when runners are on, teams are going to allow the Pirates to continue to be selective at the plate. They simply aren't even giving the singles hitters pitches to hit now, everything is nibbled. If AFraz, Reynolds, Moran get on.....little chance they score anyhow.



They know it too. All three of them are pressing at the plate lately trying to provide some punch. The teams figured them out. Evans was quickly figured out, he's a right handed Polanco now.



The only hope is Hayes comes in driving the ball like he was, and Adam, Reynolds, and Moran get back to getting on base. By adding that extra guy, there's more of a chance that if the Pirates get walked 9 times, they'll at least bring a few of them home.

Agree with all. If I'm not mistaken, the Nats have a key guy who's not played much from injury.



We haven't had a lot of luck with power hitters. The few we've had haven't hung around long- for various reasons. Even our high BA guys haven't.



We shall see how it's addressed. If it's addressed.
