I don't really see one guy who stood out above the others as the SOG. There were important contributions at the right time throughout the game by several players, plus the Marlins did their best to hand runs to the Pirates or keep innings alive.

I considered giving it collectively to the bullpen but two of those guys allowed runs at critical times. This game was a good example of awarding a team SOG.

I'm guessing that you mean Stallings, not Stratton?

Gotta go with Stallings. The only guy with 2 hits including the game winner in whatever that game is they play after 9 innings.

After intently watching every play for 9 innings it takes the wind out of my baseball sails to watch someone come strolling out of the dugout and meander on over to 2B and plop himself there like a stowaway to begin an inning. I don't know what it is but it sure ain't baseball.

I see Doc's point it was a team effort. 4 of the 6 pitchers we used did their job. My ROTY had another hit. Seems he has at least one hit a game.

Push comes to shove I'll go with Stallings.

Polanco.

The only 0 for 4 in the lineup, stranded 2 runners. Reduced his BA to .208 and his OBP to .276 while batting 5th. Provided "protection" in the lineup for cleanup hitter by striking out with 2 outs after Moran doubled.

And just for being Polanco.

Honorable mention to Shelton for putting him in the lineup.

Dishonorable mention to Cherington for having him on the roster.
