Pirates picked up a catcher who has past major league experience, Taylor Davis.



I don't know if there have been injuries to the catching ranks at AAA, but perhaps this foretells a potential move of Stallings.



The latter is nothing more than uninformed speculation on my part.

AAA depth I hope. Berroa expendable due to major depth in the lower minors of outfielders. He is a lottery ticket choice for the O's.

There may be something up trade wise, because Indy now has 4 catchers on their roster. They currently have Delay, Hudson, Susac and now Davis. Maybe they are going to let Perez go in a trade, or dfa.

is Davis on the 40 man roster?

Exciting news Mainer ... lol.

Davis is 31 and in 11 pro seasons he's only been in 20 MLB games spread out over 3 seasons. He's basically a warm minor league body. But they must have acquired him for a reason. Maybe they're not happy with their AAA catchers. Maybe they're not happy with Perez as Stallings' backup and want to promote someone from AAA. But they still have no one who could reasonably replace Stallings.

Looking at out AAA catchers, that is an awful collection of backstops. Is Davis any better than them? Not sure.

Susac is injured. Maybe that's why they got Davis.

Just heard on radio broadcast that Susac is on the IL for Indy. Davis will add some depth to the team.

So we picked up "Crash" Davis.
