Bucs played at TRS 1970-2000. All-time record: 2,451 W's - 2,355 L's. Home record: 1,326 W's - 1, 081 L's. 9 times Playoffs and 2 World Series. Loved the 70's.

Catcher: M. Sanguillen

1st: Willie Stargell

2nd: Tough call. R. Stennett (HM: Cash,Lind, Garner)

3rd: B. Madlock (HM: Hebner)

LF: ugh B. Bonds

CF: Andy Van Slyke (HM: Al Oliver)

Starters: Candelaria, Drabek, Ellis, Rooker, & Reuss (HM: Walk, Rhoden, Kison)

Closer: Tekulve (HM: Giusti)

Manager: Danny Murtaugh (HM: Tanner, Leyland) Murtaugh never had a losing record, a certain Steeler Coach doesn't either but that's in jeopardy.

TRS really saw it's share of great MLB players. Some of the honorable mention players are sort of eliminated because they played two positions. I believe Garner played 3rd base a lot and Oliver played a lot of 1st base.

This was a lot tougher then the PNC Park players.

Murtaugh never had a losing record in the TRS years. But in the Forbes Field years he was 75-79 in 1961, 74-88 in 1963 and 80-82 in 1964.

You left out the greatest of them all, Roberto Clemente. Although his career at 3RS was short, he still entertained and excited the fans with his great play. I would put Dave Parker in there as an HM.

I'd pick Stennent at 2B. He had become an outstanding player at the time of his injury. Such a bad break for him. There's no telling what he'd have accomplished in the game from that year forward.

At shortstop, I'd like to pick Gene Alley but he's another guy who lost so many good years due to an injury. His ruined shoulder reduced him to half a player by 1971. So I'd pick Jay Bell as the SS because he was very steady on defense and improved enough at the plate that he wasn't a liability.

1B Stargell

2B is tough because Cash had 3 good years at TRS, Stennett took over 2B in 1974 when Cash was traded and did well until injured in late 1977. Johnny Ray had some good years but wasn't much defensively. Chico Lind had some good years as well. I think this is the toughest position to select for TRS but I'll take Stennett.

3B Madlock edges Hebner.

SS Bell. Injuries had taken their toll on Alley by the time they moved to TRS.

LF Bonds

CF Van Slyke edges Oliver because of defense.

RF Parker was a dominant fixture in RF at TRS for nearly a decade. Sadly, Clemente was there only from the move in June 1970 thru 1972. And injuries were limiting the amount of games he played. 1971 was the only 1 of those 3 seasons where he had enough ABs to qualify for a batting title. So I have to take Parker for TRS.

MGR I give the nod to Murtaugh over Tanner and Leyland but all 3 were fine managers.

SP Drabek, Candelaria, Reuss, Smiley, Rooker

Closer: Teke narrowly edges Giusti. Gossage only had 1 year with them (1977) but I think it was arguably the best season of any Pirate reliever ever. It was the best season of Goose's HOF career.
