There are a lot of rumors flying involving the Pirates possibly trading Brian Reynolds. I certainly hope that this is just silly trade chatter. To me if this happens it would be an example of taking a step forward (this years draft haul) and taking 2 steps backward (trading a young All Star with 4 years of control). Makes no sense to me

I'll be surprised if he's moved. I think building around him and Hayes makes a lot of sense. But if he is traded, they better be getting a Chris Archer kind of return.

He is very popular with the fans. This would be a major mistake. A 26yr. old All Star who will only get better. A lot of people are already turned off.

I haven't heard any rumors about Reynolds other than fans and writers of other teams having him on their wish list and speculating how they could get him. Everyone knows the Pirates' reputation for trading away, their better players and they assume the Pirates are just waiting for the best offer before giving Reynolds away. Maybe NH would have traded him to TB to reacquire Archer. But I think Reynolds is now about as untouchable as he could be.

Reynolds is great! The Pirates need to STOP trading away their players! The Nuttings are so cheap that they just trade away anybody who gets good so they don't have to pay him.

I still can't believe they traded Andrew McCutchen. He was the face of the Pirates and then got expensive so they traded him off for some no-name minor leaguers and dumped his salary. Typical Nuttings. If they hadn't traded McCutchen, they'd have McCutchen AND Reynolds, not some no-name minor leaguers who take forever to get to the Pirates. All the Pirates ever do is trade away their stars (like McCutchen) and get back no-name minor leaguers that never amount to anything (like whoever they got for McCutchen -- I'm too drenched in my weird love-hate relationship with the Pirates to bother to look it up, but I bet they both stink).

When they get great players, like Gregory Polanco, they need to give them big contracts so they stay a long time in a Pirates uniform. But they never do that because the Nuttings are cheap n'at.

I agree with this, except for one thing: lately I’ve seen Him linked with trades for top prospects with middlin major league players.  I could see Ben sniffing around…

Reynolds (and Crick who was just DFA) was who Cutch was traded for.

Oh?  Huh.

Which makes Reynolds "just another suspect." So I guess he's nobody special after all.

Not to mention Polanco’s a ”great player”.
