These are minor league deals, and frankly, it looks like both of them will be lucky to get playing time at AAA. Sure, De Jong had his moments for us last year and threw a couple starts, but Brice stunk in Boston's bullpen and I struggle to see the point in signing him when we have a lot of young righty arms trying to earn a ticket to the bigs.

I'm thinking that De Los Santos, Stratton and Bellomy should all be ranked ahead of Brice. I like a lot of what Cherington does but this constant bottom of the waiver barrel fishing turns me off. Let the kids play!

I read that the Pirates payroll this season will be around $44 million, $3 million of which will go to Gregory Polanco (actually, the best money the team will spend all year). Sadly, the bottom of the barrel is about the only place Nutting will let Cherington shop.

I hate to say it, but I admire Derek Jeter for telling The Fish's owner to shove it.

I'll give BC benefit of the doubt and presume that he has obligations. Gotta do what gotta do.
