Anthony Alford struck out two more time today. It is early, but in 5 at bats he has four strikeouts. I think it might be time to release him, and see what the Pirates have with Tucker, Allen, or someone else. Alford does not make enough contact.

I'd send him and Tucker. Tucker hasn't shown me much. I doubt that he's much of a MLB player, to be blunt about it.

Alford was much improved when he returned to the Pirates in August last season. There's no reason not to see if he can have a good enough ST to help them in the season. 5 ABs is nothing.

Two more strikeouts for Alford today. It is time to designate him for assignment, and open a roster spot which they will need for a backup catcher.

Absolutely not. They're going to need him to play center after trading Bryan Reynolds for two potentially very high-ceiling 19-year-olds after his unreasonable demand for an extra half mil.

I like your idea, but they can put Oliva out in centerfield when they move Reynolds due to his high demands.

Won't be long before the "clubhouse cancer" stories start making their rounds.

Whether Alford is released or not really doesn’t matter. But the same goes for Oliva, too. The team can do better than both and, by the time Reynolds will be dealt away, someone better than both Alford and Oliva will be ready.

I wouldn't bet the farm on that.

How many acres on that farm? How many cows do you milk or is it just a beef farm rather than a dairy farm? Do you have a real "stud" bull or do you just go out like big market baseball teams and buy the semen from someone else's stud bull?
