Just a crazy idea, but what if the Red Sox added a young pitcher along with Benintendi, and the Pirates trade B. Reynolds. I like Reynolds, and I would hate to lose him , but the Bucs would get a high end pitcher and 3 years of control with Benintendi.

I look at it this way. I doubt that the BoSox would do that deal and include a young pitcher unless the pitcher is one that is rated based on projection rather than tools right now. Also, BRef projects both of he OFers to hit about the same over a 162 game schedule, One thing to remember is that Reynolds has a couple more years of team control than Benintendi. Just saying, that's all.

Just as I thought, you can't explain it.  Hendricks was rated the number one reliever in baseball by MLB Network, and you give him a 1.5.

An answer of, "Oh, that was a typo" would have been more believable.

You have heard of Schwarber, remember him from the WS and having a nice HR year in 2019, so you give him a 3 because of playing the Pirates a lot. You never once saw Hendricks, but a quick dash to some site for stats, settled for a 1.5.

What an awesome choice to the esteemed panel!

I rated him a 1.5 because that's the value I place upon him. Any additional questions about it?

do you have anybody in mind? The Red Sox didn't use many young pitchers last year but might have some in high minors. Here is link to baseball reference Red Sox page for 2020. https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/BOS/2020.shtml

There is one rumor saying that one team is offering MLB ready pitching for Benintendi. That could be the Pirates, but who knows.

Agree with the 0.5 on Robertson. Agree that Cherington puts the "pro" in "probably finish dead last again," too.

Whew! Thank you again, Ben, for not signing what amounts to be a D-minus player. The Pirates sure don't need to be going deeper into the cellar.
