That brings up an interesting scenario, the Pirates hitters vs the Pirates pitchers in a seven game World Series. Seriously, I don't know which would do better. Or is it worse? Is it possible for both to do poorly at the same time?

Yes.  The collective batting average would be .216, .198 if Polanco played.  The collective ERA would be 7.34.  I don't know how, they just would.
