who? Taylor is already out there, maybe Rowdy and Grandel. Is there someone else?fjk090852-7 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 6:42 pm I wonder if this could be the final days for a couple of Pirates? Since players must be on teams for the playoffs by September 1 I could see the Pirates designating, or placing on waivers some players who would be attractive to teams with playoff possibilities. In most cases the new teams would assume the players remaining salary. In other words, a salary dump for the Pirates, and they could add a player or two from Indy to see if they are MLB ready.

How about letting Chapman go to a contender before September 1st. The team acquiring him would assume his remaining salary. I am sure he would be claimed before the waiver period expires, so the claiming team pays the remaining salary due him. Also possibly Connor Joe a playoff team may want him on their bench in October.Ecbucs wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 9:34 pmwho? Taylor is already out there, maybe Rowdy and Grandel. Chapman won't be here next year so might as well unload him now

I know that Andy Haines gets a lot of blame for the hitting hitting woes.
Mike Rabelo has received criticism numerous times for sending runners.
I never hear much criticism aimed at Oscar Marin.

I agree let him go, this season is over. If I understand the waiver rules, if he gets claimed in the first several hours the new team assumes his salary. Since teams must have players on their roster by September 1st for postseason, why wouldn’t a team want to pick him up between now and Saturday midnight.

I am really surprised that the Pirates have not placed any players, such as Chapman or Joe , on waivers today. I figured the Pirates would want to save some money by placing players on waivers who could help a team in the postseason.

Joe has perked up, but we know what he is. Let Joe go and bring up Cook. Also put Rowdy in the pen
