I get what you're saying but, in your wildest imagination, did you ever expect to see a major league 1Bman do what Craig did? There isn't a player in the baseball-playing world who's older than 12 who wouldn't have known what to do in that situation.



I agree there are situations that require teaching or at least review, even to major leaguers, that are confusing or perhaps they haven't seen before (like when there are two runners occupying the same base), but I would've never believed what we saw yesterday would have to be taught to a big league player.

He was saying "PFP" but using the term to generalize about plays at 1B.



"PFP" is "pitchers fielding practice" which is part of spring training and pertains to plays where the pitcher has to cover 1B. Usually when the 1Bman fields the ball and tosses to the pitcher covering. That was not the problem here although if Anderson had gone to the bag with Craig inexplicably trying to get Baez in a rundown toward the plate, Perez could have thrown to a waiting Anderson instead of trying to hit Frazier on the run when no one was covering 1B. But I don't think Shelton meant to put blame on Anderson, who I'm sure was as shocked as everyone else that Craig wasn't going to 1B. I think Shelton just used "PFP" as a general term for practicing plays at 1B.

After watching the replay, and listening to Sheltons comments, I'm sold on two things:

1.This guy should NOT be managing a major league club, and, 2. The general baseball IQ of the players collectively, is about 18.



Back up a dump truck and load 'em up and get rid of 90% of the roster and all of the coaching staff

On MLBNR a few minutes ago, Eduardo Perez is pointing directly at Shelton and Cherington, saying that Craig should be sent down.  Cant happen at the MLB level.



So.ething is clearly wrong with talent [we know] and development [my opinion.]
