Scooter Gennett has red puffy wrist bands, bleach white Franklin batting gloves, a shin guard, and an elbow sleeve and eye black.

Y'all look ridiculous anymore.  You must take 5 minutes to do your hair and makeup before you step into the box!

Love this post ... a lot. I laughed.

RE Harvey, I’m not sure, but wouldn’t he have to make it to the Bucs on the waiver wire? The Reds would have had first dibs on him anyway, unless I’m misunderstanding the rule, which I admittedly could be.

The Reds made a deal for him.

I doubt if Bucs would have picked him up on waivers because of his contract even though it is less than 6 million. That is too risky unless they saw something that they were certain they could fix.

Right, but they basically swapped two guys who were both in need of a change of scenery. Doesn’t that happen quit a bit? A team who's planning to claim him anyway makes a relatively minor deal for the guy? Usually it’s a minor leaguer or PTBNL, but Mes, like Harvey, had lost a lot of his shine. Just seems to me that the Reds would have claimed him anyway, but essentially told the Mets that they’d deal Mes for him. I don’t think the Reds had first dibs on him. I don’t remember exactly, but I know the White Sox and I think maybe the Marlins had worse records at the time.

Rules surrounding DFAd players confuse me. I could be way off base here.

I think you are right. I just think because of the different situations it was a good risk for Reds and not for the Bucs. Plus the Mets have had injuries at catcher so Mesorco was appealing to them. If the Bucs are going to add salary then they need more of a sure thing than Harvey.(the Reds didn't add salary I believe they are still paying Mesorco and Mets are paying Harvey)
