I don't get bunting to move guys up in front of a batter who is hitting .143

I thought the same thing. I also don’t understand starting Mathias if he’s going to be hit for with so much more of the game to play. It says that he’s not capable. If that’s the case, sit him at the end of the bench and only use him in situations where it doesn’t matter.

Pirates need a utility player who can catch if needed. Hedges cannot hit MLB pitching and should have been PH for in the 6th. Buit it's always risky when you put in your backup catcher because if he gets hurt, there's no one left. So the Pirates don't PH for Hedges despite an obvious need. I'd replace Mathias in a heartbeat if they could find a 3rd catcher/utility guy. I guess Gary Kolbs and Keith Osiks don't grow on trees.

Good job by Moreta to close out the 6th with no more damage.

Hedges has to at least make contact. And he lost his cool on that horrid no balk call, but you have to keep your composure, he was still up to bat even if the call is made.

Davis needs to keep pounding the ball and get his butt in a Bucs uniform. I'd honestly bring him up right now if they are still somewhat nursing Endy.

I thought by adding the 26th guy to the roster that it was a perfect opportunity to put a 3rd catcher on the team for the reason we just saw with Hedges.
