Lot's of bad memories on that list.
Perhaps some reason for optimism in that two of BC's picks have already made the majors - Gonzales & Davis - and Termarr Johnson was a highly rated hitter. Also encouraging that Davis made the majors as quickly as he did despite a series of minor league injuries that cost him a lot of playing time.
Gotta hope that the recent string of successes continues on Sunday night and for the rest of the draft.

Looking over the Pirates history, they have not exactly hit a lot of home runs with first round picks.
But what really stands out to me, is the Pirates rarely ever get that diamond in the rough.

I heard Jonathen Mayo on The Fan this afternoon, and he is projecting the Bucs take Skenes as 1-1. There is a lot of risk with a pitcher, but if he is as good as they say, Keller, Priester and he would be a nice 3 guys in a rotation.

07 Daniel Moskos – 4 Madison Baumgarner – 10

22 Termarr Johnson - 4
The thing that jumped out to me were the criminally bad selections in 2006, 2007, and 2009. If in just one of those years, had the Bucs selected one of the other options listed here, there is a darn good chance they might have won a World Series in 2013-2015.
The Bucs can't afford to blow this pick. The top three college players have competed in the top NCAA baseball conference and they all succeeded at the College World Series. Any "deal" with one of the HS players would be a complete red flag. I hope they pay the money to get whomever they feel is the best of the three college players.
This is a nice trip down memeory lane. Terrible picks during the 2014-2016 era too. Which is why this has taken so long to turn around.

How does it fare against other similar teams? Most picks fail. I'm sure we are on the low end.

Two nice articles about some pretty good young people. Thanks for that, 3P.
I was surprised reading the Langford article that he said he is not going to Seattle for the draft. MLB likes to make a big splash when top players are chosen, and with Langford staying home he won’t be able to put on a jersey, give a live interview etc. I wonder if he will not be the Pirates choice at #1.

That would be an incredible waste of the #1 pick and would just kick the can down the road for future contention. Plus by the time Jenkins might be ready, Cruz might be gone
