If they just dump Locke he will be picked up. The Orioles need pitching and I am sure they would grab him and give him some starts

How did this game thread, after a great game, turn into a thread about Jeff Locke? Especially ironic because everybody thinks the same thing about him.

You may be right.  I wouldn't care if they just dumped him, but don't you think he will get picked up pretty quickly with his experience and left arm?  That always sucks when you release a player and they are scooped up as you know they had "some" value.  I assume that is the Pirates' thinking.
Two of those 6 years were just a cup of coffee. There's a always market for LHP. But at this point, no one cares that he made the All-Star team for a good first half in his first full season in 2013 and has sucked ever since (including the second half of that season) except for a few good games sprinkled in here and there. I'm sure someone would take a flyer on him if he was waived. But that's different from trading someone to obtain him.

I get that reaction by the fans, just not sure if the Pirates feel that way.

Should feel?

They should feel like us and get rid of him. But they obviously aren't at that point because he is still getting run out there.

They should feel like they have a limited amount of assets and need to maximize the value of every one of them.

Ouch. Trying to maximize individual value at the cost of team wins sounds like a surefire way to always be very profitable, and perhaps never win a championship while doing so.

Of course I didn't imply anything like that.
