Interesting that most times when a position player pitches, his team is getting trounced. But this time his team was doing the trouncing. LA was up 18-5 and decided to let Martin pitch if he could protect the 13 run lead. Sadly, he didn't get a save.

(Incidentally, when the save was an unofficial stat, it could be earned merely by finishing a win regardless of how large the lead the reliever was protecting. In the 1960 WS, Yankee reliever Bobby Shantz entered game 2 with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th with NY leading 16-3. He faced 1 batter, got a DP and was credited with a save.)

Max Moroff started at shortstop for the Indians yesterday.  He's played 9 innings at short, and 1 inning at 2b.

4 strikeouts in 5 at bats so far.  Will the power and walks translate and can he play shortstop around a 0DRS? Always the questions I wanted answered.

Just noticed that Tyler Glasnow is 2-0 with an era of 0.82. He is off to a good start with Tampa. Maybe he has figured a few things out with the Rays.

Just noticed that Austin Meadows went on the IL with a sprained thumb. They make take further tests to make certain there is no ligament damage.

Cole's ERA for Houston this season is an unimpressive 5.22. His ERA last year from July on was 3.35, which was good for the AL but not the dominating 2.50 ERA he had the first half of 2018. When they look at Musgrove's 0.81 ERA, Moran as a possible DH and Martin's good start with the Bucs, I wonder if they now think the trade wasn't the one sided affair it initially appeared to be.
