The Pirates are big on stats. I wonder what they make of this.
Had to take a double look at the pix of Cole in the article. Sure as heck looks like Don Robinson ex Buc pitcher and hitter extraordinaire for a pitcher that is. What say ye Quail and Bobster?

I see the similarity. Now if only hit could hit as well as Don Robinson.

My wife noticed the similarity in looks earlier this season. As we were watching Cole pitch on TV she looked at me and said "He looks like another Pirate pitcher from the '79 World Series team."
She couldn't think of the name but as soon as she said that I said "Don Robinson". They do resemble each other on the mound quite a bit being big right handers with curly locks sprouting from out of the back of their caps. As Bobster suggests though all similarity ceases when Cole is in the batter's box.

Robinson was a career .231 hitter with 13 HRs. In 1984, he hit .290 and on the final game of the season he batted 3rd and played LF. He went 1 for 3 with a RBI. Even today, he loves to talk about his hitting.

You mean if only the entire team could hit like Don Robinson! ;D
