The word got out quickly in the A.L. that Glasnow cannot hold runners on. In 23.2 IP, there have been 10 SB attempts and 8 were successful.

Dale Long's MLB record of homering in 8 straight games is still safe. Long did it for the Pirates in 1956 and it has since been equaled by Don Mattingly and Ken Griffey Jr. The Blue Jays' Kendrys Morales was making a run at it and homered in 7 straight from 8/19 thru 8/26. But his streak was broken by the Orioles last night. Figures that the streak would be broken vs one of the worst pitching staffs in MLB.

Just saw an episode of "Bar Rescue" in which the bar was owned by former Pirate LHP Dan Serafini. Serafini was acquired in mid season 2000 and made 11 starts for the Bucs.

Austin Meadows 4-4 last night for Durham with 3 HR, then got hit near his head late in game setting off a bench clearer.

Good for Austin. Sorry to see him go but that is the price you pay to get a really good pitcher. Hope he is not hurt badly.

Looking at the 1968 Pirates and 1 of my all time favorite Bucs Gene Alley. And how it relates to today's WAR. That team had Blass at 18-6 and a 2.12 ERA. Bob Veale won 13 games with an even better ERA of 2.05 and 171 Ks. Ron Kline pitched 112 innings from the BP with a 12-5 record and 1.68 ERA. Clemente's "poor" year at .291 was 9th in the NL. He had 18 HRs. Matty Alou hit .332. Stargell hit just .237 but had 24 HRs. Maury Wills hit .278 and stole 52 bases, Donn Clendenon hit 17 HRs with 87 RBIs. Gene Alley was a top SS but hit just .245/.307/.321/.628 with 4 HRs and 39 RBIs. Alley had the 3rd best WAR behind Clemente and Alou. Something wrong there.

Freese with a solid night last night vs the Mets. A homer and a double to help the Dodgers defeat the Mets.

Tough night for Glasnow. 2/3 of inning 7 runs 5 hits and 2 walks. So it is going to be a lot longer until we determine which team did the best in this trade. I hope the trade works out well for both teams.
