Enny picked up by the Royals (they had selection before Blue Jays)

Wow, I knew Morton was having a good season, but I don't follow the AL all that closely. This is crazy:

He's 11-2 with a 2.96 ERA and 146 strikeouts in 19 starts this year.

Possum might remember Jack Merson. He set a MLB record with 10 RBIs in his first 5 games as a September call up in 1951. He played 2B in 1952. He was from Elkridge, Md, just a few minutes from me and I've met his granddaughter several times at an Elkridge bar watching Steeler games (she's a fan). I just learned today that he's buried at the same Elkridge cemetery as my father and was surprised to see his grave is less than 100 yards from my father's. So today I took a regulation Pirate cap and placed it at Merson's grave with a long nail thru it and into the ground to keep the wind from blowing it away. Merson was mentioned in a Pirate broadcast early this season when Polanco got off to a quick start with 13 RBIs in his first 8 games. But I don't think anyone has broken (a couple have tied) Merson's record for 10 RBIs in the first 5 games of his career.

Great for Cutch. Would love to see him get a real chance to get a ring.
