No doubt about that!

Gotta give Reynolds credit. He started out slow but to

date has managed to hit 27 Home Runs. That's with his time on the DL, I think he was also on Paternity leave and of course

Shelton"s Day off program. he could easily have had a 30 plus year

The Cards are loading up against the hapless Bucs with Wainwright, Pujols, and Molina.  The Bucs don't have a chance.

The damage done to the Pirates over the years by those three players is remarkable.

Without a doubt Pujols, Molina, and Wainwright have tortured the Bucs over their careers.  Hopefully, in a decade or so, some poster on Onlycards.net will post how Pirates like Cruz, Suwinski, Davis, Johnson, and Rodriguez have owned the Cardinals.?

Wouldn’t that be sweet justice?

The only problem is that if the bucs have the same miserly owner, they won't be around

There's no doubt in my mind that no young player coming here over these next few years who has any kind of success will spend his entire career as a Pirate. Players are simply employees to Nutting, interchangeable like machine parts.

That's true, but it's also prevalent throughout MLB. Even Pujols left St.L. for 10 years before coming back. The Cards have Wainwright and Molina their whole careers but stars like Arenado and Goldschmidt came from other teams. All teams have to deal with the mega payroll issues and trades are made as much for salary relief as for on-the-field needs.

Of course with Nutting, no one is retained with big contracts. Hayes signed a team friendly deal and Reynolds did not have any of his FA years bought out. The SOP is to trade players before they become FAs. That will never change under Nutting. He's not trying to compete with other teams on the field. He's just running a profitable business. :(
