This was a total clinic on how not to play baseball
Today, we had incompetent base running by Bae, complete void of offense, the typical Holderman giving up the lead, terrible throwing by Endy Rodriguez in addition to his .000 batting average, and the predictable Bednar taking the loss
Our Bucs just lost 3 out of 4 to one of the worst teams in MLB. And you know what?. They deserved to lose 3 out of 4. The Marlins schooled them!

You know, a silver lining in all of this is how sparkling clean this team must be from all the "washing it off and move on" that they're doing.

This team needs a shake up. I don't want to hear it's only hame 4 of a long season. It's the same garbage we saw the last 2 1/2 months of last season, it's the same thing we saw in spring training.

I'm tired of hearing about all the stolen bases. They're not amounting to anything. Just makes more stranded RISP

On the third time, he goes 3/4ths of the way, stops and goes all the way back even though the pitch was ball 4. The throw to 2B went into CF so Bae could have gone to 3B if he hadn't gone back to 1B. Then he's out at 3B trying to advance on a ball bobbled by the catcher. What a disgrace.
Perhaps Bae studied at the Oneil Cruz School of Base Running.

I think Bae should be sent to Indy. I don’t know what he was doing by starting and stopping when he was on first base. Then he gets thrown out at third. This weekend series stunk!

Well, that was an interesting way to lose. A leadoff dribbler to third, a stolen base, a wild throw, and then a wild pitch. Bucs manage to drop three of four when each of those losses was winnable.

To review each position:
Catcher - we’re okay with Bart
1B - we don’t have one
2B - we’re good with Gonzales
SS - we’re below average both offensively and defensively
3B - we’re okay defensively but below average defensively
LF - we’re below average all the way around
CF- we’re below average defensively and we’re underperforming offensively
RF - we’re good with Reynolds
DH - we’re below average
Bench - not good at all
Starters - above average
Bullpen - the middle guys are serviceable, the backend is a train wreck
Coaching - perhaps the worst in baseball

So a 1-3 record seems about right.

FJK, there’s no clear reason to keep Bae at all, let alone send him to Indy. It’s best to get him out of the way to give opportunities to others. He’ll never, ever, be a contributor. He’s not a Major League Baseball player.

This is exactly right. Nothing short of firing everyone in management, starting with Williams (he’s absolutely useless), all the way to the bullpen coach. Don’t skip all the pinheads who sit in the back offices conjugating numbers, either. I realize it can’t be done all at once but, over the course of the year, rid the organization of them all. This includes nearly every player.

And just a thought about Endy Rodriguez. How did we get sold on the idea that this guy’s a player? Two years ago, he did little to show he was anything but below average. In these first four games, he didn’t do anything to disprove that.

I guess the strategy of hoping Bednar gets better isn’t working.

Besides an offseason when we all agree that nothing was really done to improve the offense; I still maintain that the biggest mistake made was not bringing back Aroldis Chapman. How could you allow him to go to the Red Sox for a mere $250K over what the Pirates paid him in 2024. We would already have 2 more wins in the bank this year. Maybe Chapman refused to resign with the Bucs. If that is true then the front office has bigger problems.

I doubt that Chapman had any interest in returning after what he saw last year. Besides, his ERA for April last year was 6.00. It wasn't a great year for him.

The biggest surprise of the game was that the Pirates scored 2 entire runs with Shelton's "we're not trying to win" lineup.
