I'm afraid this is going to be ugly.

This team is supposed to be built around starting pitching.

During the offseason, I was envisioning an elite rotation of Skenes and Jones and maybe even Chandler.

Instead, now it's only Skenes!

Point is, our "elite" rotation is now not even a good rotation.

It's Skenes + Keller who is maybe slightly above average + 3 journeymen.

Combine a suddenly poor rotation with a definitely poor offense ... and it's a recipe for 100 losses.

84-76, 690 runs. Another tie-breaker might be the number of strikeouts. Can they break last year's record?

You are the voice of reason. I just hope you aren't out of the contest after game 3.

It could indeed be ugly. There's been absolutely no improvement offensively to last year's team. And there's no telling if the pitchers, except for Skenes, will do what past staffs have done by trying to be too fine with their pitches, end up walking too many guys, and find themselves out of their games by the fourth inning. Then the bullpen gets worn down to the point they're toast by the end of May. 2025 is looking a lot like 2016-24.

It's not the players' fault. They are what they are. This lies entirely at the feet of the owner, Williams (who's completely useless, just like Coonely was), and the Front Office. Gosh I hope they prove me wrong, and I'm going to continue to root like heck for them every night, but watching these chuckleheads in management year after year build nothing is eating away at my brain.

After Thursday’s meltdown can I change my prediction? 2-160 as the bullpen blows a record 100 save opportunities.

Yeah, I can see already this is a bad baseball team. Probably 60-65 win team. I just hope they don't have those 7-8 game losing streaks.

I wouldn't worry. This was just 1 of the 2 losses you predicted. :D

I haven't done the exact math, but I think he still wins even if they only win like 123 games.

After the nasty opening day loss, I feel like this is more of a prayer than a prediction, but here goes:
84 - 78
162 x 4.25 runs per game = 688.
I always predicted 84 wins back when I posted as SyrBucco. One of these years, I'm bound to be right. :-)

Mouse: Did you mean to predict 84-76? That's only 160 games.
