Shelton tossed. Suwinski strikes out. At least Washington has a big lead on the Cards.

Shelton tossed. Suwinski strikes out.
With bases loaded, 2 outs, Suwinski took 5 consecutive pitches well out of the strike zone. None were even close. But the incompetent ump called 2 of them strikes. Shelton went nuts. Then Suwinski swung and missed one out of the strike zone, knowing it would be called a strike anyway.

Yep
2 extremely low pitched called strikes
The first one on a 3-0 pitch was bad but the second one was even worse. Can’t blame Suwinski this time for chasing a third low pitch

Poopy loss tonight. Bob Nutting will enjoy his ride home to Wheeling.

Well, whoever was living inside Michael Taylor’s body yesterday has returned home. No score after two.
The body snatchers theory makes sense. The Taylor we saw last night must have been a Pod Person.

Don't know what to say about this one.
Gonzales gets picked off a base for the second time in two games.
Both times were followed by a Home Run.
Losing Falter that early definitely hurt
Yes, the calls on Suwinski were bad. However after coaching for 39 years
I always felt the calls even up over time. I remember walking into the locker
room and the players were bitching about the officials after a 2 point loss.
I said, " listen to me. When you miss 10 foul shots, turn the ball over 14 times and shoot 17
for 49 from the field, the officials didn't cost us the game.
That all being said, tomorrow is another day

I like Gonzales but if he understood basic fundamentals, he would know that when he reaches base trailing by 3 runs, his main job is to avoid getting picked off. How do so many players come thru the Pirates system totally ignorant of fundamentals?

I'm sure the team tracks this but I wonder how many Bucs have been picked off compared to how many we have picked off.

Both Bobster and Ecbucs make good points.
I also should mention both Cutch and Hayes.
Both are hitting in the low .220's
They both were a combined 0-8 today.
We all love Cutch but hopefully he calls it quits after this season.
Don't know if Hayes is playing hurt but he is giving us nothing offensively.

And yet Hayes (.178 since June 19) batted 3rd today. And Joe (.188 since June 17) batted 4th. They combined to go 0 for 7. Reynolds reached base 3 times ahead of them but never scored. Shelton (or possibly Cherington) should be embarrassed by that lineup.
