I'd wager that Chris Owings will be the 26th man this year. Apparently a twice-a-month right-handed backup shortstop is only worth so much, and that's less than Kevin Newman was making. Glad that we have someone to give Oneil Cruz a breather against some lefty pitching.

Marcano has too much promise to waste away in Owings' role, but Indy is pretty crowded too. I wonder how at bats are going to be divvied up at AAA.

You're on. I'm taking Andujar.

Which means that you will win. We can't have too many patty cake hitters for our liking. :(

Interestingly, the Pirates have brought in veteran catchers this winter. Perhaps it’s to serve as mentors for Endy Rodriquez and Henry Davis, and to help guide the young pitchers through Spring Training and, for one or two of those catchers, into the season.

Disappointing to hear, but expected. Owings will get at least 2 starts per week to ensure that players like Hayes and Reynolds remain fresh. It will particularly be sad if he claims a spot over Bae.

VanMeter is gone in name only; there will always be an incarnation of him on the roster.

Just because someone calls something 'super" doesn't necessarily make it so..
