Masumi Kuwata made his MLB debut at age 39 in 2007.  He was finished, muscling up to throw in the low 80s, but you could see from his balance and form that he had been a fine pitcher when he was younger. 21 innings, 9.43 ERA:

Meet Dennis Riddleberger.

Signed by the Bucs in 1967, couldn't get past AAA Columbus. Riddleberger was traded in 1970 to the Washington Senators for ...

George Brunet.

Got into 12 games for the Pirates, late 1970. Early 1971, Brunet and Matty Alou were sent to the Cardinals for Nellie Briles and Vic Davalillo.

Then the Bucs became World Champs.

Thank you, Mr. Riddleberger.

DL goes to Asia to sign Kumata. NH goes there to sign Kang. Heck, Jin De Jhang looks like he will have a bigger impact on the Pirates than Kumata.

In 1977 Dave Pagan got into 1 game for the Pirates. Pitched 3 scoreless innings, gave up 1 hit, no walks and struck out 4 batters. At age 27 it was his last appearance in the majors.

For anyone that grew up playing RBI baseball for Nintendo...

He was on the NL All Stars as the Pirate representative in the game.

Three for one!

Doe Boyland - 18 AB from 1978-81, collecting 2 hits and 1 RBI.

Alberto Lois - 4 AB from 1978-79. He had one hit, a triple.

Harry Saferight was with the team in 1979 but failed to get a plate appearance, though he was on deck three times.
