Brault is also interesting. To me, he's a LH Trevor Williams. Doesn't impress with "stuff" but generally gets the job done.

Frankly, we might have a greater need for Glasnow out of the pen then the rotation. The pen is definitely the week spot. If he can dominate 2+ innings that world be huge.

This is a game where the earth rose up to ground the 4-0 Pirates.

Nasty weather for playing baseball.

With the exceptions of Glasnow's performance and Bell's monster blast, little went right for the Pirates in this game.

Polanco looked like the old Polanco playing RF. I really hate when he sidearms throws.

Harrison has now looked really bad on two relay throws to home this year. Sano should have been dead to rights at home; and if was, this may have been a different game.

The failure to coral an infield pop was bad. This is now two infield pop ups that have been botched (the other by Moran - Cervelli midway between 3rd and home).

Neverauskus looked like the fungible reliever that he probably is. Smoker instills no confidence whatsoever.

Nova was okay, but he looks like toast the 3rd time through the line-up.

The 6th inning looks like it could be trouble for the Pirates all year. Starters beginning to fade and undependable relievers. If Glasnow continues to perform, and Brault goes back to being a BP option, may need to look at bringing in one of the two of them with the idea of pitching both the 6th and 7th and getting the game to Kontos and Rivero in the 8th and 9th. Try to shorten the game by using your better pitchers less frequently but for more innings at a time. Santana/Neverauskus/Smoker may be better candidates for the blow-outs that are sure to happen rather than mid level intensity situations.

While not the Pirates, the umps didn't perform well either. Bad call at both first (Glasnow pick-off) and at second (Dickerson steal/hit & run). Some problems with the strike zone too.

Still excited to be 4-1 rather than 1-4, but last night was often difficult to watch.

Exactly, let him continue his work here. Maybe he becomes Rivero's replacement down the road? He doesn't have to start to be valuable.
