Use Kontos from now on in mop up role. He shouldn’t be coming into the game when it’s a 1 or 2 run deficit or in any high leverage situation. He stinks, you can’t depend on him and their are much better options. Now any chance they did have to come back in the 9th is done.

The Brewers are tied 4-4 right now. Let's go Twins. The Reds and Phillies did their job today.

Get the split tomorrow end the homestand 6-3 and then go to Cincy and at least get 2 of 3 there and come home next weekend for the Cards series at 29-20. Still a very doable scenario.

I think the George Kontos file needs to be expunged from the roster. Nice recovery from Nick after a brutal first. Couldn't get to a lousy starter with the bats until late.

Kontos was a pleasant surprise last year. Waived by SF after 50 games. He had given up at least 1 hit in 15 of his final 18 games for them. He gave up at least 1 run in 8 of his final 12 games for them. Pirates got him off waivers and he did very well in 15 games. But that was a SSS. This year we're seeing why SF waived him. The Bucs don't need to be carrying 13 pitchers just so that he can remain in the BP while the bench is a man short.

I've felt this way all season. This team has exceeded my expectations by such a wide margin that I get nervous from any hiccups.


Yeah, and I can’t really identify why I suddenly feel anxious. I liked the team and still do. But something makes me think this is a critical part of the season and the team may fall short.
