Nice win to get before heading into St Louis and nice to see Musgrove show some backbone and do what he did last night with the slide into Baez. Something about Musgrove reminds me a lot of AJ Burnett. I don’t know if it’s his intensity or just the way he is tall and skinny like him, but I see a lot of AJ in Musgrove.

The Pirates are not losing in their division. Let's keep it going.

Cubs 3-3

Brewers 2-1

Reds 4-3

Cardinals 4-2

You just gotta love a guy like Dickerson. He plays the game the right way! I've seen nothing but heart and hustle out of him. I still can't believe we stole this guy from Tampa. What were they thinking?

Yeah unbelievable that he continues too play as we sit one of the best hitters on the team daily at his expense. It just has to stop. I am guessing at this point they hope he catches fire and someone gets interested?

Cubs 3-3

Brewers 2-1

Reds 4-3

Cardinals 4-2 Yea they are 13-9 overall so far through 22 games. But this recent stretch of going 2-4 at home and losing 2 out of 3 to both the Cubs and Cards was not good. They are now 6 games behind the Brewers when 2 weeks ago today they were 26-17 and tied for 1st place. And they are still just 2 games out of a playoff spot. So through 55 games and 1/3 of the season bring complete had you told me in early March that this team would be 3 games over .500 the last day of May and going into June and 2 games out of a playoff spot I would have signed up for that and ran with it.

You are trying to stay in contention here desperately after this tailspin the Pirates have been in and you gotta keep playing guys like Meadows, Dickerson, and Marte and not Polanco. No excuse for Hurdle not to do this.

They have been a streaky team all year, it doesn't seem to be predicate on the competition.

I think like most things in baseball, it's going to come down to the pitching. Unless you're the Yankees or Red Sox, your offense is going to go through streaks and slumps, consistency is based around the pitching. The Pirates' rotation and bullpen haven't been reliable yet. I think Musgrove and Kingham could provide some stability and I hope that Taillon finds some success, that would go a long way to help prevent this long losing streaks.

I still think they have an impressive collection of position players that can help prevent the negative impact of injuries.

I have to admit, Musgrove is pitching a lot better than I ever expected. I'm amazed.

Love his attitude as well. I wonder how many pitchers on the staff would have hustled to 2nd base to bust up any chance for a double play?

Yeah, I don't think anyone should be surprised if they now rattle off eight out of ten or something like that (or lose them for that matter).
