Craig hit his 10th homer today in a 7-4 loss. It will be interesting to see how the Bucs handle him and Josh Bell once Craig arrives in Pittsburgh.

Mason Martin hit not one, but TWO walk-off three run homers for Greensboro today in both games of a DH.

Just read that Keller was scratched from his start today and pushed to start on Tuesday. Just a guess, but the Pirates maybe lining him up to start one of the games of the DH in Cincinnati next Monday Memorial Day.

I was looking through minor league stats today and this kid jumped off the page: Nicholas Economos. He's currently in low A and a bit old (23) for the league. Looks like he struggled early in his pro career, but has really figured it out last year and this year.

Last year:

56 IP 2.54 ERA 61/18 K/BB

This year:

32 IP 2.48 ERA 50/13 K/BB

50 strikeouts in 32 IP is pretty impressive.

I only know what has been said about him on PP. He's at big 6'6." Sounds like he has struggled with control earlier in his career but has figured it out. He doesn't throw hard but has good off speed stuff. It will be interesting to see how he does at AA when he gets there.

He's actually been promoted to Bradenton and will make his first start at A+ today.

Saw him pitch several times in Morgantown in 2017 & 2018.  Big guy but not much more than filler in the minor leagues according to P2.  Not being a scout I was not overly impressed by him but he seems to be having a breakout year of sorts this year.  As you say he will face a make or break situation when he reaches Altoona.

Hmm, maybe we ought to start a Nicholas Economos Watch thread to track his results.   ;D

Just saw on P2 that Economos is making his debut tonight at A+ ball in Bradenton. Gonna watch this one closely and will report back tomorrow.

Economos Watch

Bradenton lost 2-0 to Ft Myers. He went 5 innings, 77 pitches and 44 for strikes. Gave up 5 hits and both runs, K'd 3 walked 2. Both teams got 6 hits but Bradenton could not push across any runs. Not bad for his first start in High A.
