A couple off seasons ago we thought Hanson was going be a part of our future. It goes to show that sometimes fans cannot plan on high end prospects becoming exceptional players in the Big Leagues.

Alen Hanson signs with Giants per MLBTR. A shame he did not work out with the Buccos. Goes to show you that evaluating and developing prospects is not an easy thing to do.

Jared Hughes now a Red
2 yr deal at $4.5 million with a $3 million option and $250,000 buyout. Also some nice incentives.

And now Antonio Bastardo signs a heavily incentive laden minor league deal with the D-Backs.
In short, there is always an opportunity for a leftie to make one last run at the majors.

Engelb Vielma, who was Pirate property for three and a half minutes is on the move again. In September, SF claimed him from the Twins. In November, the Phillies claimed him from SF. In December, the Pirates claimed him from Philly. In January, SF claimed him from the Pirates. Now SF has traded him to the Orioles for a PTBNL or cash. Vielma is a guy everyone seems to want but no one wants to keep. Maybe he's got bad breath. Especially the Giants, who keep acquiring him and keep getting rid of him. Odds are the Orioles will soon waive him and he'll be claimed by the Giants again.
