Infielder Rodolfo Castro was recalled.

Infielder Josh VanMeter was.....not optioned. He stays and outfielder Cal Mitchell gets optioned.

Of course, that makes no sense

Like many Pirate pitchers who struggle, De Los Santos goes to the IL. It's a common practice for the team. So we either have to believe it's an amazing coincidence that so many pitchers get injured shortly after pitching poorly, or else the team in unable to know when their pitchers are injured and let them pitch until it becomes obvious they are hurt.

In this case, De Los Santos has pitched a total of 41 innings compared to 23 last year. The Pirates are always concerned about how many more innings a pitchers throws from 1 year to the next so this shuts him down for the season.

With this team, how can anybody spend their hard earned money support them? We Pirates fans will still be saying the same exact thing about them this time next year. They are a joke!

to me, BC has to have orders from Nutting to make sure next year isn't a repeat of this year. Nutting needs to ask him what will it take and then give it to BC.

It doesn't help to have season after season like this as it loses fans for the long term.

I don't think Nutting cares as long as he profits. I think BC has tried to rebuild the team and has been in a grace period where no one expected them to win; just to show they are headed in the right direction. This has been a transition season where players projected to be part of a successful rebuild have been a big part of the team. The problem is that they ALL seem to be struggling. None are doing well, which creates doubt that this is really the group to turn the franchise around. Fans have been willing to give BC the benefit of the doubt after NH failed but now BC is looking like a GM who may have invested the future on players who aren't going to be good and has appointed a manager and coaches who are clueless. Another season next year of prospects becoming below average MLB players and poor decisions from Shelton and coaches will be an indication that the future is never. BC better make some changes.

Bleacher Report states that Castro has been suspended for

one game and fined ( how much it didn't say) for the cell

phone incident.

Big deal, that will serve as his normal Shelton night off
