4/23 Game Thread - Bucs @ Cubs

To my question up thread: I learned that a (surprisingly) high number of MLB managers- more than ten- are "virgin" managers- managing their first MLB club. Looks like close to half. I didn't expect that.

Some have long tenures. It wouldn't be fair to compare Shelton to them.

Some have about the same experience as Shelton, but we're hired into better situations, so it wouldn't be a fair comparison.

But, there are some who it would be fair. The Orioles, the A's, are two.

Better than talking about being pounded to death.

Meaningless Stat of the Day: The offensive juggernaut known as the Pittsburgh Pirates is on pace to score 572 runs this season.

Thompson is a proud graduate of the Mitch Keller School for Spinning a Bad Game to Sound Like a Good One.

“I got a lot of soft contact,” Thompson said. “I think that’s what we were pushing for going into this start — to make sure I get ground balls and get weak contact, and we did that."

Gee, sounds like he had a swell game. Can't wait for his next one! :D

Hayes gets the "Shelty Special" rest.
Shelton knew the bucs were going to lose 21-0 That's

why he didn't start Hayes

As you know, all I've seen of this fiasco is video.  Not much to go by.

My friend said that some of the Cubs hits caught lines.

But, I see a zillion hits for the bad guys, two for the minor leaguers, and two errors.

I'm no expert, but even i know that terrible pitching, limp dick hitting, and matador defense is not a recipe for success.
