I don't think I'd want to play 1B with Cruz at SS. Need extra padding in the glove.

They just said it's the hardest throw by an infielder in MLB this year.

Cruz's throw--the hardest throw by an infielder in MLB this year-- just barely beat the runner. That should have been an infield hit but Cruz turned it into an out. That kind of defense is huge.

Cruz shoulda stayed at 2B with no outs but I think we can cut him some slack on that one. He's having a great game. Cleared the bases with that missile to CF and the adrenaline was surging as he rounded 2B. That hit was 110 mph. The guy's a freak! :D

I feel sorry for Heinimen. Over the weekend and tonight he has hit several balls that should have been hits but he has nothing to show for it. Bad luck

This is the most enjoyable hour I've had watching Pirates baseball since ... 2015?

* A 97 mph throw from SS

* A 113 mph exit velo on the 3-run double

* Madris with 109 on his 2-run base hit

WOW.

Now, now, don’t get carried away.  It’s not possible to compete in Major League Baseball with players earning the minimum.  A team can’t expect to succeed without a near-total roster of veterans, especially several of whom are very expensive free agents.
