I agree he does strikeout a lot. Possibly he does need to spend a little time at Indy. Castillo has also been struggling a little bit. I agree with everyone I want to see the young kids play, but if a couple weeks at Indy could get them back on track, I would have no problem with that.

Regarding the diving play by Cruz yesterday, I think his size is a legitimate concern for those who feel a 6'7" man is not predisposed to play shortstop. It takes much more for someone that size to dive, get to his feet, and still be able to throw out the runner.



While those types of plays don't occur often, they're still critical when they need to be made. Cruz showed yesterday that he certainly has the ability to pull them off. He's very athletic and the power in his arm overcomes the minute extra time it takes a guy that size to get himself back to his feet and complete the throw.



Regardless, the Pirates have a happy problem with both Cruz and Peguero competing to play shortstop. It may ultimately be resolved by trading one of them in order to improve, say, the starting rotation. Tough choice.

His arm is quite the weapon and is already known around the league, I'm sure. He says he wants to play SS but, if he's asked to move for the good of the team, he has to embrace the change and try to become the best outfielder, or even 1Bman, he can be. Otherwise, he could end-up wallowing in self-pity and fail to reach his full potential.

It was a bullpen coach who was feeling dizzy. He went to a hospital in Pittsburgh, and ended up leaving just fine.
