Endy walks with one out but Frazier hits into a double play. Halfway through eight, Bucs 4 Marlins 1.

Borucki, with the help of a double play, faces just three batters in the 8th. The bullpen doing the job so far. Who’s going to pitch the 9th? If it’s Bednar, we might want to add on a bunch. 4-1 Pirates headed to the last.

Please no Bednar for the 9th inning. I don’t have much confidence in him. If we had a 6 run lead maybe. Three runs aren’t enough for him to hold.

Shelton is the most stubborn headed Manager in the game

It is sad to say, but Bednar just is not as good as he was a couple years ago.

I don’t know. His curve was moving a lot and his fastball was 97 and 98MPH. I don’t think his control is where it was 2 years ago. Too many walks and full counts

Bednar tries to lose it again but gets the final outs. Bucs win their first of the year. It feels much better tonight, but Bednar’s kind of taken some of the joy out of it. Any other GM/manager tandem wouldn’t let him pitch in high leverage situations, but we have our GM/manager tandem so the opposite will happen. The good news is that Bednar lowered his ERA to 27.00, so there’s that.

he was trying for a hit, it was an outstanding athletic play by Endy that prevented him from getting the hit
