What is it with Roberts that people just can't lay off? HE SUCKS
The guy they need to go after is Logan O'Hoppe. Upgrades the offense. Upgrades catcher. This is the kind of move teams that don't spend money need to make. The Angels will be losing Anderson at the deadline. I said it before and I'll say it again, offer up one of their AA starting pitchers, I mentioned before. Offer up Po Yu Chen, or Thomas Harrington. Send along Bart or Delay. Throw in a lottery pick like Nick Cimillo. Toss in Eddie Yean.
There are ways to upgrade, without spending money, and getting years of control in a major league player to boot.

Never heard of O`Hoppe and had to look him up. That would be a great get, nice scouting.

They can pull the plug on Davis catching, and turn him into a Cutch type role. If they can get his bat to the level he was expected to hit, it's not a waste of a draft pick if he rakes. The Dodgers are paying Ohtani 70 million to be a DH. I don't want anyone telling me about part of the deal is they expected him to pitch. He hasn't thrown an inning yet. If we can get an .850-.900 OPS DH for the cost of the first round bonus, I say it's money well spent.
Just let Davis hit!

Guy like 3B Alex Bregman would be fun but doesn't really fit with low energy Hayes around. Him and Reynolds b2b,would be nice start . AB a free agent next year tho and someone will overpay. 3 /66 would be fair. Reynolds contract looks like a steal.

I heard this morning that one of the local beat writers learned from a source with the Pirates that Nutting told Cherington there's no money for him to spend to acquire a bat or two. If this is true, Nutting's told two big lies: first, that there's no money available (if that weren't such a huge lie it would be funny) and, second, telling the media a couple of weeks ago that he was all for improving the offense even before the Deadline came.
I hope the Players Association learns of this news and insists the franchise be investigated, whether it's by MLB or the Players lawyers. Our situation here is becoming untenable. I've loved baseball and the Pirates for nearly all of my 71 years, but it's getting harder and harder to continue loving the Pirates because of one man. He's a lying liar who lies.

Well, Perrotto has an "anonymous source". Just listened to him on the radio regarding the article. Until proven otherwise, I'll just brush it off as another in a long line of Pittsburgh adversarial journalism. As Mark Madden boldly proclaims, "negativity sells."
Not a Nutting apologist, but are people not remembering the guy who won't allow us to sign ANY players has laid out 253.75 million in the last two seasons for 3 guys? Doesn't that count for something?
Remember, this is the same guy who wrote a similar piece about Bryan Reynolds definitely being traded. Oh, that was in 2022. Someone please remind me of what the Pirates got back in that trade.
Listened to another assclown in The Fan leading up to the Perrotto interview about the article, who also said, "I have a very good suspicion who the guy is. But I won't say his name, but I'm almost certain."
Anonymous sources. Almost certain suspicions, but won't name names.
Hard hitting stuff.

I would be just fine moving Hayes .
Bubba Chandler ,Ashcraft head to O`s.
1. H. Kjerstad (L) RF- trade with Balt
2. B. Reynolds (S) LF
3. R. Tellez (L) 1B
4. N. Gonzales (R) 2B
5 O. Cruz SS
6. C. Mayo(R) 3B-trade with Balt
7. Cutch / FA Brian Dalbac DH
8. J. Bart (R) C
9. J.Bae (R) CF
That would be a nice end of season lineup.

Sorry, Surge, I’ll give no benefit of the doubt to Nutting. I’m not impressed with the $254 million he’s laid out. That’s chump change today in MLB. I think he approved those contracts just as a way of saying he’s making an effort, to cover his butt and to keep the Player’s Association off his back. He did the very least he could get away with. And I’d be blown away if any of the players who are receiving those monies are here when the bulk of the monies are due to them. I think that’s part of the plan. There’s no way either Keller or Hayes will be receiving the back end of their contracts as Pirates.
This guy’s been lying to us for years about spending when the time is right. He did so again, if Perrotto’s reporting is correct, just in the past couple of weeks. He’s one of the worst owners in baseball because he doesn’t make any effort at all to win. Until he proves otherwise, I’ll never defend him. I’ll never, ever believe what he says because he shows who he really is by what he does.
