the Pirate batters do strike out a lot and we get to witness it every game. However, every team strikes out a lot. The Bucs can improve in this area but we see Pirate pitchers striking out opponents at a high rate too. Pirate hitters have only struck out 47 more times this season than the opposition.

Pirate pitchers have only allowed 9 more homers than the Bucs have hit. The team is 11th in runs allowed and just 14th in runs scored. They need to change both those numbers next season.

I don't mind Priester getting starts but he has to pitch a scoreless inning every now and then. And there should always be a quick hook with him. He can not be expected to eat innings this year. Maybe he should have a couple games where he comes in during the third or 4th inning rather than starting the game.

Wildwood made a solid comment about the small difference in speed between his assortment of pitches.
That is definitely something he needs to address in order to be successful at the ML Level. I agree with Bobster that he should work on that in the minors. We do not need to have our other prospects subjected to a negative defeatist culture.

Something the Pirates should consider. Instead of signing a free agent or 2 this off-season, they should offer the Dodgers developmental pitching and hitting coaches huge money to come to Pittsburgh and fix our developmental program. The Dodgers seem to lead the competition in the successful development of their young talent.
