As opposed to Cervelli who savored every step. But I guess that's understandable since he just tied his total HRs for 2016.

Buckle up, going to be a bumpy ride. Watson hits the lead off hitter.....

Gets a dribbler and a groundout....2 outs man of 3rd...

Pop out to LF, take a deep breath and RTJR!

4/7 Home opener versus Braves...

Anyone going to mention the three runs Cutch gave back today?

I honestly believe that last years outfield was the way to do it.

LF at PNC is like playing CF anywhere else.

Polanco has range in right and both of them can support Cutch in CF.

I don't feel like Polanco is a good enough OF to play left at PNC.

Great outing for Nova. Even with Cole's meltdown, there is a lot to be excited about 1-3 in the rotation. Cole makes me the most nervous of the three. I feel pretty decent about Kuhl, just wish he was #5.

Glad to see Cutch with 3 hits. Plus, his first AB he turned on a ball that was smashed foul, but was probably the fastest I've seen him at the plate in forever.

Good to see a couple bombs. Here's hoping Cervilli displays some of that power throughout the season.

JHay and Jody with an amazing DP that very possibly saved the game.

I like the back end of the bullpen a lot, but Watson is the one guy that makes me very nervous.

Over all, a nice game by the buccos!

I thought the very same thing. Marte looks good, but both Cutch and Polanco look like they're out of position. Go back to the old positions; I think the Pirate will have a better OF.

That may be best for PNC but Marte is probably more valuable in CF on the road. But I've never seen a team have 2 different OF alignments for home and away, so I would prefer Cutch in LF and Polanco in RF. Despite Cutch's gaffe yesterday, I still prefer him over Polanco in the OF. Both have speed but Polanco has the better arm for RF. And altho they both missed a ball yesterday, Cutch was going full speed to catch up to a liner and Polanco just drifted back and missed a lazy fly ball that some little leaguers would catch. Polanco too often last year looked like a guy who had never played OF before. More balls will be hit to LF than RF and it scares me to have Polanco get all those chances at home or away.

Thoughts after 3 games for what it's worth (which ain't much):

Polanco looked awkward in the OF last year and that hasn't changed.

Cutch's bat speed seemed to have returned yesterday.

Freese has played well in Kang's absence.

Taillon continued to impress just like last year.

Nova continued to impress just like last year.

Cole continued to struggle just like last year.

Watson still seems to struggle as a closer.

Rivero looks sharp.

Bell has done nothing wrong yet at 1B.

Mercer is a good shortstop despite reports of poor range.

Good to see Cervelli driving the ball. He's already homered and was robbed of extra bases in Boston.

Stats look odd to see two relievers with ERA's of 81.00. :o
