Does Dickerson pull the ball? I would love to see someone take advantage of that short porch and smack the ball off that 21 foot wall.

Dickerson is a decent stop gap for the Pirates and he can put some pressure on Polanco to perform.

Good point. Between Frazier, Luplow, Brentz, Saunders, Meadows (?), Polanco could have some competition if he continues to disappoint. But lets hope they get power from both LF and RF now. OTOH, Dickerson is not a great fielder and Polanco has his issues too. Marte could be very busy.

13th round. Had a nice year showing a little pop and low K rate. Also said to be a very good defensive player. Don't get me wrong , I like the trade .

Sorry, he was drafted out of high school in the 37th round. I still never heard of him as I had to look him up.

Somewhat interesting:

.282, .325, .490, .815 - 27 HR 2.7 WAR

.279, .363, .486, .849 - 28 HR 2.5 WAR

left handed bat that hits a little bit better for avg against left handed pitchers, interestingly enough.

This brings up a couple of questions for discussion:
  • In what slot will Dickerson bat?
    • Who makes up the bench and who's left out?

I think Bell will stay in cleanup. I think Moran will bat 5th or 6th. Marte & Harrison bat 1-2. So, I think Dickerson will hit 3rd or 5th. Probably 3rd. I don't see a better candidate though his OBP is lower than I'd like.

The bench will have Freese & Diaz. Moroff probably gets the backup Mif gig. That leaves Frazier, Osuna, Luplow, Saunders, and Brentz fighting for the other two spots. Frazier probably gets an inside edge on one spot since he can fake it in the IF.

I posted the other day that the Pirates should not pursue Dickerson because of his steep drop-off in the second half of last year.

But, if the cost (if you could actually consider it a cost) is Hudson, a low level minor league prospect who does not appear to have a great upside, and about a mil or so, my only question is --- could we interest the Rays in Nova.

That's a good trade.
I like the idea of this proposed platoon for left field. Maybe you could project 30-35 homers between the two players.

If you could guarantee me their health, I would guarantee you 35hrs.   That's possibly an 850 OPS, 35 HR platoon with passable defense.

Unsure. Brentz power is there I'm sure that's not going anywhere in the bigs, so I'd bet we would get 35 HRs. Could he hit .250 with a .300 OBP in the split too? Dunno.

Brentz is an unknown, but he murdered lefties his whole minor league career.   Hard for me to believe he wouldn't do well in that split in the bigs too.
