Hudson was just called up for the Dodgers the other day. Weird move by one of the "elite" teams.

One thing the Pirates are doing so far this month through 25 games now is they beating the bad teams on their schedule. They are now a combined 10-3 against the Tigers,Reds, and Marlins. It was important to bounce back and win this series against the Tigers after the horrific week we had against the Rockies and Phillies. Nova pitched great today and what a pickup Dickerson has been. They aren’t over .500 right now if he isn’t on this team. Both Bell and Polanco have got to get their bats going. The Pirates aren’t gonna win games if these two continue hitting like they are. They gotta get it going in this Cards series this weekend.

Wait...no...check that. Definitely the best trade he's pulled off.

Not so fast.  Also cost us Tristan Gray an A+ Gulf Coast League 2Bman who was drafted like in the 13th Round last year from Rice.  Saw him play a few games with Morgantown last season and thought he might have a chance at the MLB someday. So far jumping from short season A- NYPenn League to A+ Gulf Coast League seems to be causing him problems offensively. Only time will tell.

What's the point? A few years ago, I checked and going back to at least 2002, no team winning 90 games would have failed to make the playoffs in either league under the new five team format.

I really don't think this is a playoff team. And we've certainly seen teams collapse before. But, even with a bad week, I still think this is a decent team. Remember, we've only had three games all year where we didn't have the lead. In all honesty, I feel like our record should be better than it is.

The one thing that seems obvious is this team is going to lose some ugly games and win ugly. Folks bailing out on the team after the loss of a few games are going to get hurt jumping off and climbing back on the ol band wagon.

They have a brutal stretch 10 game stretch coming up. Hoping they can somehow make it through 4-6.

Remember, we've only had three games all year where we didn't have the lead. In all honesty, I feel like our record should be better than it is. I think as well despite the 1-6 record last week that this team still has a chance to be pretty good. I think these next 15 games 3 games against the Cards this weekend followed by the 9 game road trip to Washington,Milwaukee, and the White Sox and ending with Cutch’s return with the Giants will go a long way in telling us how good this team really is. At that point we will be 40 games into the season which is a pretty decent amount of games into the season. Going 9-6 or even 8-7 in  that 15 game stretch would put the Pirates at 23-17 or 22-18 which should still keep us very much in the race come mid May. After that stretch the Pirates play 9 straight games against the White Sox, Padres, and Reds which should allow them to win some games against the bad teams who they have beaten so far this season. So just playing right at or slightly above .500 in this next stretch of games should be good enough. Let’s see if this team can do it.

IDK...that was pretty good. Yes. But, Cervelli was not good in 2016 or 17, when he was actually healthy enough to play. Great 2015, and a great start to this year so far, so we'll see. Wilson was pretty filthy in 13 and 14. I get it...trade a LOOGY for a starter any day of the week. But Wilson brought something to the team when he was here. Hudson was straight awful last year.

I don't think there's a good chance to be a good team.   Kang coming back on board today gives me hope that there's a CHANCE and it is a much better today than it was yesterday.

.500+ slugging in over 300 abs in 2016.  My goodness, does this team need that this year.  I'm dreaming and hoping...if just maybe...

This morning I'm trying to find hope for team slugging in Moran..looking at his charts, trying to find hope. Trying to convince myself its going to happen This afternoon? A guy who did that in the bigs only a year and a half ago is back on board. A good day!

Yeah I think Cervelli's intangibles, his 3.1 War 2015 was enough to win trade, maybe not make it best Neal trade ever. 2016 1.6 WAR. 2017 .7 WAR.

2018 .7 so far, tied for 2nd amongst all catchers

let's hope for health this year!
