I’ve long considered Marte a disappointment and a distraction in the club house. But watching his teammates respond to him, maybe there’s more “to the story”.  Made me glad for him.

Great night all around.

I am not sure what this means. Why would you think the team doesn't like Marte? Why is he a distraction? You never hear reports about him causing trouble. It's probably his language barrier, but he is rarely interviewed.

He has his flaws for sure as a player, but not sure how an outsider/fan can think things are personal. He just doesn't show that emotion.

Come on Dog, your post is déjà vu all over again.  Reread my post and then reread yours. No where did I even hint that maybe Marte is not liked by his teammates.  To the contrary: my post was about how happy and personal the Celebration seemed. My  comments are all about his teammates elevating the celebration FOR Marte.

It just seemed like a very personal  celebration compared to the average walkoff.  Maybe I’m totally wrong.

Re my feelings toward Marte, I’ve never hidden my frustration at his apparent lackadaisical approach to the game and I’ve questioned whether he was a negative influence on Polanco. Watching the team respond to him made me wonder if maybe his teammates see a side to Marte that we don’t get to see.

As I said, I was very happy for him.  I have no idea how you read anything other than this in my post.

I didn't see anything different in the celebration and don't know why someone would think he is a distraction in the clubhouse.

So?  Does that make you right and me wrong? What’s your point?  What’s your purpose?  Why did you not address your statement about me claiming he’s not liked by his teammates - your original  allegation? I’d say you either need to point to where I stated he’s not liked or you need to admit you read something I didn’t say.

Just like the old days?   You decide....

Why is he a distraction? You didn't answer that question, but want me to answer yours. Saying he is a distraction would mean he is not liked. Meaning, he is not liked because he is a distraction. Every distraction I have ever worked with was not liked because...(ready)...they were a distraction.

You made the blanket statement with no reasoning.

Vazquez pitched the tenth inning and needed only ten pitches to get through, I believe. With him up in the bottom half, two outs, and a man on first (Cervelli), Hurdle pinch hit Diaz for Vazquez. Question...was that the right strategic move? I would have at least considered leaving Vazquez in and having him pitch the 11th as well. Cervelli is not a fast runner, so it potentially would have taken two base hits to score him, even if Diaz hit a double. Would an extra three out from Vazquez been worth essentially giving away the inning with the winning run on first base?

Ultimately, I think CH made the right move. But the drop off from Vazquez to everyone else in our BP, including Kontos, is so steep, I’d at least have considered letting him hit and come back for another inning. Maybe if this game is in September instead of April, you see that move?

I’m just curious what others' thoughts are.
No right or wrong answer. Maybe if no one had been on base, Vazquez would have batted. But he hasn't been untouchable as a pitcher this year. If he stayed in and gave up a run the next inning, Hurdle would be panned for making him pitch a 2nd inning instead of trying for a 2-out rally with a man at 1B.

You’re just wrong. I’ve stated in the above tread and many times in the past: I think he does not give 100%; I’ve said I feel he has been a bad influence on Polanco. Hence a distraction. Do you see those words: “I think”, “I feel”. My thoughts. My feelings. Just like you love to hate JHay. And not once have I equated my thoughts with being “liked”, that’s your deal. I also said, in the above original post, maybe I was wrong; and, that I was happy for Marte. ie, it was meant to be a nice post for Starling Marte. You chose to act like an ass. Please Don’t come back to me in a PM crying about being mistreated. Act like an ass expect to be treated like one. So do me and everyone else a favor: Stay away from my posts.

Mods: please Monitor this - Dog has once again chosen to attribute words and motives to me that I’ve never said nor do I possess. I don’t know why and I don’t care.

Being advised he has done this, rather than apologizing or correcting, he extrapolates a justification for attributing words or motives to me. I do not want to participate in his shtick. I do not want the board spinning into the gutter. Please advise dog to simply stay away from my posts.

Good answer. I like the added name calling and being reported to the admin (I think). Why do you think or feel he is a bad influence or a distraction? Is that a better question for you?

I will respond when I want to respond. Don't make a blanket statement if you don't want questioned. This is a discussion board. If anyone else would have asked the same questions, would you have reacted this way? We all know that answer. PM crying to you...ha ha.

Just keep it baseball. It's not that hard. Why do you get all mad when I ask you why you think/feel a certain way? Then you name call and tell on me. We all can see my posts. I didn't break any rules. If you can't take someone asking you a question on a discussion board or someone who disagrees with you, maybe discussion boards aren't for you. I have never personally attacked you or called you a name.
