I still have tremendous concerns about our starting pitching, but this offense could really be something special if Bell and Polanco could get hot and stay hot at the same time (and I realize that's a HUGE if).

Do they still lead the majors in Quality Starts?

Anyway, I much prefer listening to Brown than Block. I don't think Block is a bad announcer, but I just prefer Brown. Anyway, the audio overlay works pretty well on MLB.tv. I don't use it much, but it syncs well. The only time it's weird is when the TV broadcast has some graphic that they're talking about, or Robbie is talking. Kind of a cool feature.
I didn't know about that. I'll have to use it. I absolutely cannot stand listening to block ramble on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.

Bob Prince spoiled a few of us on the board, right Bobster, Quail and some others too! :) :) :) :)

Now I think the color guys, yes, even Blass add to the watching-listening experience more than the old time guys. I like Walkie and they way he calls the pitches after the catcher gives the signal. He is right most of the time and also The Rock for his insight and mouth full of marbles voice.

I like Walk, Blass and Wehner. It's their job to add to the PBP commentary. Brown (tho I can't stand his need for catch phrases but thankfully he's doing less of that) provides a good balance between calling the PBP and conversing with his color man. But the color man can hardly get a word in with Block who calls the action and tries to fill every second in between with the sound of his own voice. And it becomes very obvious that even when he has nothing significant to say, he'll just keep rambling so that he doesn't have to stop talking.

Yes Possum, I was spoiled by Bob Prince. The team of The Gunner and The Possum reign supreme for me. One of my most prized possessions is a recording of those two doing a recreation of their broadcast of the 7th game of the 1960 World Series. Gives me chills to listen to it, which I do every October.

As for the current group of announcers I like Bob Walk. The rest of the crew don't do much for me.

FYI Quail (you probably know this but others may not). Prince did innings 1-4.5 for the national broadcast of game 7. Mel Allen did the rest. On radio it was Chuck Thompson and Jack Quinlan. The reproduction was as if Gunner & Possum had called the game on radio (which they hadn't).
