They were up 4-1 and put in his best defensive player for his worst. That's how Rodriguez should be used. He shouldn't have had an important at bat. The bullpen caused that meaningful at bat.



Dickerson will probably sit again this year. Hurdle has been very good playing the starters and not resting them this year. This game is on the Bullpen and their All Star Closer, not Hurdle.

These last two Sunday game losses to the Padres last week and today to the Cards have just been killers and losses that can really just kill a season. Very very bad.

Bad bad loss.

Freddy is right, too. Today and last Sunday...two games that should have been wins going in the L column. I suppose we've had a few go the other way, too, this year. Alas, these games aren't a heck of a lotta fun.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but I kind of wish Clint would have left Taillon in to work through that mess in the 7th with one out. That little bloop hit Gyrko got with 2 outs that scored 2 runs and made it 4-3 really opened the door for the Cards to come back and run this game. Huge 2 game swing in the standings because if this loss today. Bucs were once 9 games over 10 days ago have now lost 7 of 9 and are now just 4 games over .500 at 28-24. Hopefully find a way to get it going against the Cubs tomorrow. They play a night game tonight and have to travel to play a day game tomorrow here so gotta take advantage of that if youre the Pirates in tomorrow’s game.

Alas, these games aren't a heck of a lotta fun. I would have liked to have seen Rodriguez come in and pitch the 8th up a run. He has been striking guys out left and right. Maybe he does the job over Feliz. Like I said before though losses like today are just daggers when you have the games won and are playing a division rival and a two game swing in the standings takes place. This loss really really stings today and would have really been a good win to nail down with the Cubs coming into town tomorrow.
